Workshop Series 2018
SaBaR is hosting a series of fun workshops for youth 5-18 who want to see what the crazy sport triathlon is all about. Workshops will focus on preparing young athletes for local multisport events. See our calendar for races in the OKC metro area that have youth events.
Clinics will be run by SaBaR coaches Priscilla Crawford and Dave Gray with assistance from experienced triathlon volunteers.

No experience is necessary, but participants need to have prior skill in each sport.
Swim
Be able to swim least 100 yards with face in the water
Need goggles and swimsuit
Bike
Be comfortable riding a bike
Be able to ride at least 1 miles unassisted
Need helmet and bike (preferred a bike with multiple gears for 10 yrs and up)
Run
Be able to run or run/walk at least 1/2 mile for 10 yrs and under, at least 1 miles for 11 yrs and up
Need running shoes
All workshops are free! But for liability reasons all participants must be USA Triathlon members ($10/year for youth - join here). Pre-registration for the workshop is required for all participants.
Free Clinic Schedule:

February 25th, afternoon, at Cleveland Co. YMCA - Focus on swimming, running, and simple strength training.
March 11th, afternoon, at Cleveland Co. YMCA - Focus on swimming, running, and simple strength training.

During May we will begin more frequent team trainings. Check back later this spring for the schedule.

Clinics will follow this basic schedule:
Afternoon Clinic
1:30 arrive, paperwork
1:45 get to know you game
2:00 sport 1 instruction and activities
2:45 snack and games
3:00 sport 2 instruction and activities
3:45 practice mini event
4:30 wrap up, pick up
Participants will receive:
Instruction from experienced coaches and triathletes
Half day of fun activities developed to introduce kids to the sport of triathlon
SaBaR Youth Triathlon T-shirt
Healthy snack
Activity suggestions and log to encourage athletes stay active between clinics
Support from coaches at Youth Triathlon Races
Participants should bring to each clinic:
Water bottle
Swim cap, Swim suit, Goggles (extra pair, if you have one)
Flip flops (or other water shoes)
Two towels (one to place on ground for transition area)
Running outfit, Running shoes
Participants with dietary restrictions should consider providing your own mid-workshop snack.
